Welcome to the Scrubcutter website
Scrubcutter is a 90-second inspirational radio 'programmette' produced by CBA and broadcast nationwide on New Zealand's largest commercial radio network NewstalkZB.
CBA has assembled a team of experienced writers and presenters who, to date, have created more than 2800 Scrubcutters. The team includes well known kiwi communicators such as Ian Grant (Founder of Parents Inc.), John Cowan (Creative Director of Parents Inc.), John Cooney (Director of Grapevine Magazine) and Shona Pink-Martin (freelance voice and newscaster) alongside a plethora of other talented contributors.
Scrubcutter.com is the place to listen to these 90-second 'slice of life' spots online. We have initially launched our site with a handful of programmes, but this will grow over time. Please subscribe to the podcast or enews feeds or contact us with your feedback/queries.
This site also has a search function, (located in the top right hand corner) where you can enter search topics by key word like: "love", "faith" or "pain" and listen to Scrubcutters that are related to the subject of your choice.
The name Scrubcutter has an interesting story behind it. When CBA's Managing Trustee Phil Guyan first went to NewstalkZB's management with a programme proposal, the answer was 'no thanks'. NewstalkZB's Operations Manager explained it this way... he said 'you need to do something for us that we can't do for ourselves. It's like you've offered to mow our lawns, but we already have our own lawnmower. You need to be like a contractor who comes in to chop down our scrub. We need a Scrubcutter, not a lawnmower'. So, Phil's next programme proposal had the working title 'Scrubcutter', and it stuck.
